Starting Summer with a Rawr

My very own rextor package is officially on CRAN!

Projects

The rextor package was initially designed to assist in reading WEXTOR data into R. It has since turned into a more general data preparation package that also features a scale and theme for data visualization!

rextor on CRAN

You can find more information on rextor on the official CRAN page: doi.org/10.32614/CRAN.package.rextor. Version 1.1.0 was successfully published on May 21st 2026 after version 1.0.0 turned out to need a bit more love still.

This is the second package that I’m actively maintaining on CRAN, but the first that I designed myself completely from scratch. Even though I knew what was coming when I decided to try and put it up on CRAN because I already went through the process with dropR (doi.org/10.32614/CRAN.package.dropR), I was still pretty nervous. Which is a good sign and a good thing because in the weeks leading up to the official publication, rextor improved tremendously as a package, making it not only way better documented but also a lot more useful and usable - even for me.

More on rextor

For more information on rextor as a package, all available functions and an example of how to use them I highly recommend you check out the documentation on github pages: iscience-kn.github.io/rextor/. You can also admire the hand-drawn logo of Rex, the happy little dinosaur. 🦖 I’ll be making hex-stickers soon so if you want some of your own, let me know! :)

Feedback and Support

As always, I am very open to receiving feedback on my work as I hope to make workflows easier. If there are any features that you would love see in this package, hit me up! Send me an e-mail at overlander@uni.kn or open a GitHub issue at github.com/iscience-kn/rextor/issues

Stay tuned for more updates and features aimed at improving your statistical analysis experience!
